Hello 08840! Oh winter, here you are! I love this time of year. You get to spend time with your loved ones and the thought of snow on the ground and holding hot chocolate in my hands warms my heart. I am excited for you to check out our Winter edition magazine dedicated to the lifestyle and community of Metuchen.

We start our holiday issue by taking a look at various houses of worship around the borough. We wanted to know what is in store for the holiday season. And just WOW, there is a lot going on! Father Mi- chael Way of St. Luke’s, Kara Kwiatkowski of St. Francis and Jordan Klotz of First Presbyterian took time in their busy holiday schedule to share some highlights. Father Way describes the season best no matter what religion. “Everything we can to recog- nize the purpose of the season of Advent… It’s counter-cultural because it calls for us to slow down and be thoughtful and more re- flective…,” he said. Check out all the good on page 6.

After learning all the good from the hous- es of worship, grab a scrumptious lunch and/or dinner fare at Che Pizza located in the heart of downtown Metuchen. Custom- ers can enjoy top quality fresh ingredients whether they order their made-to-order pizzas and Pork Chop Alla Romana and/or blueberry and pistachio gelato. “People say that we have good vibes,” says co-owner Dario Barone. And boy do they! Barone takes care of the front of the house, while co-owners Antonio Coppola and Massimo DiPietro use their 25 years of culinary expe- rience in the kitchen. Go check out all the scrumptiousness starting on page 10.

If you drive along Main Street, it’s hard to miss the Metuchen Forum Theatre. It opened in March 1928, at the end of the silent movie era and the beginning of the Golden Age of Hollywood cinema, accord- ing to a write up by Tyreen Reuter in the Metuchen-Edison Historical Society’s Nan- nygoats Newsletter. The theater was named on the 2016 10 Most Endangered Historic Sites in New Jersey. In her nomination, she included the history of the theater. She fur- ther wrote, “The Forum has changed little since its founding and retains its highly rec- ognizable marquee on its front facade.” Today the historic theatre is part of the eventual development of a Metuchen Arts District. Find out more on page 12.

We round this holiday issue with our an- nual Holiday gift guide. We walked Down- town Metuchen to shop for the holidays. We highlighted some finds from 2 Chicks With Chocolate’s pop up shop in What’s the Scoop – milk-and-cookies bark to arti- san bon bons anyone? – and Super Mario playsets at Genus Boni to a printed beanie hat that says, “I Need More Space” at Pa- pillon & Co. and a Roll Recover massage gun at Runner’s High. How about a custom tissue box and an escape room-style game at FK Living. Check it all out starting on page 14.

Make sure to check out page 9 for yum- my recipes and Metuchen on the Move for future community events on page 18. All of this and more awaits on the pages ahead! Enjoy!
